Job Summary:
We are hiring an experienced and result-driven Sr. Commercial Manager/Commercial Manager for an export-oriented garments manufacturing and trading industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all commercial activities, including export-import documentation, L/C management, banking, licensing, logistics, and compliance. This role requires strong industry knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant commercial operations. Candidates with prior export-import experience in a financial institution will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all export and import-related commercial activities of the company.
- Prepare, review, and manage L/Cs, contracts, and shipping documents in compliance with buyer and banking requirements.
- Ensure timely renewal and compliance of all import & export-related licenses.
- Supervise logistics activities, including shipment coordination, freight forwarding, and customs clearance.
- Coordinate with merchandising, production, and logistics teams to ensure on-time shipments and smooth payment collection.
- Verify and control invoices (PI, packing lists, and other related documents) for both export and import transactions.
- Liaise with banks, freight forwarders, C&F agents, and customs authorities to ensure seamless transaction processing.
- Maintain strict compliance with export regulations, buyer codes of conduct, and applicable local laws.
- Collect quotations, prepare comparative statements (CS), raise POs, and review PIs while ensuring accuracy of Incoterms, payment terms, product descriptions, and HS codes before submission for L/C or TT opening.
- Negotiate with service providers, vendors, and logistics partners to secure competitive rates and favorable terms.
- Monitor and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Department, providing leadership and guidance to the team.
- Prepare and present regular commercial and compliance reports to management for review and decision-making.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with international buyers, suppliers, and financial institutions to ensure long-term business growth.
- Ensure proper risk assessment and mitigation in commercial transactions, particularly related to L/C management, foreign exchange fluctuations, and compliance risks.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of proven experience in the manufacturing and trading export-oriented garments industry.
- Having experience in export-import within a financial institution will be considered a strong plus.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and drive process improvements.
- Excellent understanding of financial compliance, L/C procedures, reporting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in financial and ERP software, along with strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Must have good communication skills in English to deal with the customers.
